Well we had to update our guestbook/blog site. Unfortunately we lost all the great posts. Sorry about that. We’re good at salsa, not computer stuff.

Sooooo…we’ll start anew with our blog. Please post comments about Beanie’s Home Made Salsa here.

If you have great recipes, please post them here – Recipes

Don’t forget to check out our website – www.beanieshomemade.com, and remember to eat together often.

  1. Hi Beanie/Ann

My husband and I have not eaten salt on the table, nor have I cooked with it for years. We are very careful about what we eat. Nevertheless, he was advised to cut down on salt last year and so we pay even more attention to ingredients and nutrition on product containers. It is amazing how much salt (in various hidden forms) are contained in food. Recipe books on sodium-free eating, nutrition magazines/books, health magazines/books,etc. recommend using sodium-reduced ingredients and suggest these products are readily available in my local grocery store, specialty food stores and health stores. Honestly, we have never found sodium-reduced baking products (i.e. baking power, baking soda, etc.) in any of those places. I have always prepared my own food and prefer not buy prepared foods, which are easy and convenient. However… when traveling, it’s nice to buy something ready made. That’s where your Beanie’s comes in.

In the winter of 2008 during a stay in Mission, Texas, the local HEB carried your salsa. When it was time to return home, we loaded up with several bottles and enjoyed it all summer. With only 50 mg of sodium per serving, we could enjoy it without feeling guilty or worried.

We returned to Mission in September only to discover none of the four HEB’s in our area carried Beanie’s any more. When we asked, we were told the stores take what their main distribution center carries. Well heck anyway!

So does anyone else in the Mission/McAllen area sell your salsa? We may just have to stop at your kitchen on our way down after Christmas and have you brew up a “stash” for us.

The point of this whole thing is, we thoroughly enjoy your salsa and we plan to find another source for it somewhere. Now I’ll go thumb through your website, which looks very interesting.

    Thanks for less salt,

    Judy Bradley

  3. I just decided to contact you to tell you how much I enjoy the Salsa Verde. Then I started reading your Salsa Story. You totally described my salsa experiences. I make my own salsa verde, but it’s definitely easier to purchase a jar at the store. I have finally found my permanent salsa verde!!!! I really appreciate that you do not put oil in the salsa like make of the other brands do. This is a close to homemade as you can get. I look forward to trying your other salsas. I bought this at the HEB in Missouri City, TX.
